NORCROSS, Ga. â” The 1999 introduction of the Saab 9-3 Viggen Coupe, possibly the world’s most entertaining front-wheel drive car, marked the debut of the highest-performing Saab production car ever built. For 2000, Saab takes the 9-3 Viggen” named after the Saab JA37 Viggen jet fighter ” even further.

New 9-3 Viggen Convertible and 5-Door Models
For 2000, Saab offers a complete line of 9-3 Viggen models ” adding a Convertible and 5-Door variant to the recently-introduced Coupe. These new models feature the same performance-enhancing upgrades from which the Coupe benefits. The 9-3 Viggen convertible will be the highest-performing convertible Saab has ever produced and the 5-door model will combine the Viggen’s outstanding performance characteristics with additional passenger comfort and versatility.

Increased Horsepower and Torque for 2000
Saab’s top performers now deliver 230 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 258 lbs.-ft. of torque from a low 2,500 rpm all the way up to 4,500 rpm. This broad range of maximum torque provides Viggen drivers with even more power on-demand for safe overtaking and spirited driving.

Additional Exterior Color Choices
All three Viggen models are now available in two new colors, Black and Silver, in addition to the previous Viggen exclusive Lightning Blue. Less than 3,000 9-3 Viggens will be produced for the world in model year 2000, with 1,000 of them coming to the U.S. market.
