House of Sweden Launch, Washington, D.C. 10.22.2006
Posted on 23. Oct, 2006 by Ryan in 2000-2009, Washington, D.C.
This past Sunday afternoon, the House of Sweden had it’s first official launch event on the front lawn known as the “Salute to Sweden, Waterfront Festival”. I really enjoyed the chance to hang out with many of my friends and colleagues at such a wonderful event, with terrific weather! The music was quite entertaining, especially the lead singer of the Swedish band “The Ark”. Although this was a launch of the event and the King and Queen are present and will be entertaining the sponsors of the House of Sweden from Saab Automobile, Volvo cars, IKEA, , Scandinavian Airline Systems, Ericsson, Astra Zeneca and others tonight and tomorrow, the Embassy does not completely open to the public until Tuesday.
I will be providing videos of this evening in the coming days, but in the meantime, I have provided you a press release of the event plus some photos to enjoy. I hope you like the photos!
In Celebration of the Inaguration, House of Sweden presents a Waterfront Festival with music and entertainment celebrating Swedish American Heritage. On October 22nd, between 1:00 and 5:00pm, the Festival will take place on two stakes in the open area between the House of Sweden and the Potomac River. An historic cavalcade of Swedes who traveled by seat to America will connect Sweden with House of Sweden. Well known Swedish performers will participate through song, dance and music. The crescendo of the Waterfront Festival will be a concern with The Ark, one of Sweden’s most famous, and eccentric, rock bands. The performance kicks off the band’s U.S. tour. The festival is free and open to the public.

Hey, I was at the Swedish event as well… but not a Saab in sight. Oh well, The Ark more than made up for it, they were awesome!
