Nordic Uhr – The Saab Sport Tuning company

I would like to add to the developing story on the blog Trollhattansaab.net on Saab’s recent press release in Sweden on their partnership with Hirsch Performance.

Saab Owners and Enthusiasts also have a company as an alternative to Hirsch, Nordic Saab. Nordic Saab, a premier company that has had quite a history in sport tuning specifically with the Saab has had spent some serious work in engineering and the delivery of their performance tuning for all types of Saabs.

I have provided a brief history of Nordic Saab by Founder and President, Rolf Uhr as well as information on Nordic Saab’s partnership with U.S. dealerships, Wigwam Saab in North Providence, Rhode Island and Genuine Saab/ Talifiero Imports in Springfield, Missouri.

In addition, I have also included photos from an event with my former club, the New England Saab Association back in April of 2001 as well as photos and videos from my visit to the Nordic Facility when I lived in Sweden in January of 2004. I even got to drive one of the Nordic Saab’s on the highway in Sweden, it was quite incredible and I am forever thankful Nordic Saab for making it happen.

Rolf Uhr, the founder of Nordic Uhr AB, started his Saab career early. When he was only 16 years old he bought his first Saab. A 1968 V4. It was delivered with four fully spiked OT-rallye tires and was the kick off for Rolfs racing career. The first race was in Ludvika (Ludvikaruschen) with a drivers license only three weeks old. It was in the summer of 1971.

Rolf have been competing with almost all Saab models, among them, V4, 99, 900/9-3, and 9000. Even a VW and two STCC-Opels (Vauxhalls) have been used up during the years. He has been competing in rally, rallycross, ice-racing, hill climbs, and racing. All with great success.

Rolf also been competing with Radical on Nürburgring and on Silverstone. Actually it was Nordic Motorsport that introduced the now so popular Radical racing car in Sweden 1998-1999. The company was founded with great inspiration and experience from all this competing.

Nordic started in 1995 by Rolf Uhr with Magnus Hjort as his partner. Magnus Hjort was appointed Best Saab Technichian in 2001 by Saab/Opel Sverige AB.

Besides Rolf, his sons Magnus and Robert also works at Nordic. Together with Daniel Ajax and Lena Hägg.

Ever since the start Nordic has been market leading when it comes to Saabtuning. To keep this position a Rototest chassie dynamometer has been installed.

Other than the development of various tuningkits Nordic also work close together with Ferrita AB. The Rototest is also used when testing counterpressures in exhaust systems, vacum in intakepipes and noicelevels of sport exhausts.

Nordic also work close together with various race teams such as Team CaWalli, one of Swedens largest race teams.

Ever since the start, Nordic worked close together with Saabs retailers. The idea is to be able to provide best possible products and service for the customers. Nordic is the only tuning company that takes over the warranty responsability from Saab on the parts that might be effected by the increase in power. This, for as long as the original warranty should have lasted (special policys and fabricational errors excluded). The tuningproducts of Nordic is sold only through Saab Retailers around the globe or directly from Nordic Center in Norrköping, Sweden. Nordic have retailers in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, USA, Taiwan, Japan, Schwitzerland, Great Britain, Germany, Rumania, Hungary and Russia.

On top of the schedule of tomorrow, there is converting several of Saabs models to different fuel types such as Ethanol (E85) and the development of tuningkits for other car brands.
