Saab European Delivery Program
Posted on 15. Jan, 2007 by Ryan in 1980-1989, 1990-1999, 2000-2009, 9-3, 9-3 SS, 9-5, 900, 9000, Sweden, Trollhättan, Sweden
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Saab Automobile and there will be one of the largest Saab Celebrations ever in Trollhättan, Sweden on June 7th-10th. This event is known as the Saab Festival
The timing of this event, if planned well enough in advance, can also coincide with the purchase of a brand new Saab purchased through your local dealership in the United States for pickup at the event in Trollhättan, Sweden. This process of picking up a Saab in Sweden or other parts of the country through a United States dealer is known as the European Delivery Program. Choosing to pick up your brand new Saab, fresh from the nearby factory during the Saab 60th anniversary Festival will grant you the freedom to visit the sights and sounds of Trollhättan, Sweden and elsewhere, wherever and whenever you want.
The European Delivery Program process is quite easy.
Step 1) Choose your Saab
Saab 9-3 Convertible
Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan
Saab 9-3 SportCombi
Saab 9-5 Sedan
Saab 9-5 SportCombi
Step 2) Choose your pickup location
* Vienna, Austria
* Prague, Czech Republic
* Copenhagen, Denmark
* Helsinki, Finland
* Paris, France
* Frankfurt, Germany
* Budapest, Hungary
* Rome, Italy
* Amsterdam, The Netherlands
* Oslo, Norway
* Lisbon, Portugal
* Geneva, Switzerland
* Trollhättan, Sweden (No Extra Cost)
* Malmö, Sweden,
* Stockholm, Sweden
* London, United Kingdom
Step 3) Choose Destination Dealership of choice
It will take about 4 weeks for your Saab to arrive back in the United States to your preferred Saab dealership of choice.
Your Saab will arrive with the Swedish Export places and you will have 6 months to enjoy driving around with until you are required to swap them in for the normal set of places when you register your vehicle in the United States.

Here is a current promotional video done in 2006 by Saab that clearly explains the current process directly below. I have also provided videos from 1997 and 1988 that provide some interesting historical information of this program. Although I am unclear as to what year this international delivery program began for United States customers, I hope that these videos bring more clarity to the program as a whole.

Interesting videos – and good to see Ronnum’s on there – a beautiful place to stay – I have been there twice. Excellent food and the best Swedish breakfast I have had anywhere.
Läckö Slott is an interesting old castle, too. Beautiful surroundings, on the edge of the countryside and Lake Vaernan. You can find more information about the castle, here: http://www.lackoslott.se/default_eng.asp
On the minus side, us Europeans do not get this fantastic European Delivery Programme opportunity that you get Stateside.
On the plus side, it is a bit nearer for me and I can go there whenever I like
Great videos!
