House of Sweden – Cars & Transportation Program, cont.
Posted on 20. Jan, 2007 by Ryan in 2000-2009, 9-3, Sweden, Washington, D.C.

The House of Sweden here in Washington, D.C. has recently started their “Cars & Transportation” program exhibit this winter season as part of a series of other programs that began since the Inaguration of the House of Sweden this past Fall, beginning with the “Architecture & Design” exhibit.
This exhibit started on January 12th and runs until March 23rd. I managed to stop in this Saturday morning to snap a few photos of the exhibit. During my visit, I found the layout and organization quite easy on the eyes and very well done.

On the first floor just after you walk in the door to the right, the 2007 Saab 9-3 Convertible in black sits right next to the window. The Saab 9-3 Convertible looked quite good early in the program even with the mid-day sun coming in and reflecting off of the potomac. I was surprised to see that the front and rear plates of the convertible were not the traditional “SAAB 9-3″ Europlates in black that are typically used in auto shows, etc. I guess the objective was to keep the Saab clean and minimalist and uncluttered much like the House of Sweden itself. The overall presentation was executed well.

The placement of the Saab 9-3 Convertible with the presentation boards was a good arrangement and made the information easy to read and understand.
On the lower floor, there were other exhibits which included a literature rack that consisted of a flyer made by the Swedish Institute with the Saab Aero-X on the cover.
There was also a flat panel display also showing some videos, one of them included the Saab 9-3 BioPower Hybrid Convertible and the Aero-X that I have featured here before. The Saab promotional video looked really nice on the big screen.

The Aero-X was also vicariously showcased throughout this entire Cars & Transportation program in the most subtle ways at the House of Sweden which was nice considering the Aero-X was recently showcased at the recent North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan.
There were a number of hand-outs and postcards available for the taking throughout the exhibit which was a nice surprise, so I took a few keeping in mind future visitors.
I understand that some installations in this exhibit will be rotated every now and then, so if there could be the additions to this exhibit, I would suggest the additions of the Saab SCC and SVC concept engines on stands. I think that these engines would be helpful in understanding some of the technological advances in real-life of Saab Automobile.
The entire visit took me just under an hour, so it may take you even less depending on your need to take as many photos as I did.
I also got probably one of the best experiences at the House of Sweden by being the first one to arrive to see walk through the exhibit without really anyone else around.
I was also quite fortunate to have had a very well spoken and articulate tour-guide, who made the entire visit memorable. I must say that the communication of each installation in the exhibit was a job well done, considering this was certainly not my first visit to the House of Sweden.
I invite you to visit the House of Sweden to experience the exhibit for yourself.
