Rally New York has recently taken place in Narrowsburg, New York between March 30-31, 2007. rnyusa07-mlogo_small.gifTwo long-time Saab Owners and Enthusiats have recently participated in this event which were Bruce Turk, president of the Vintage Saab Club of North America, who is the owner and driver of his 1961 SAAB 96. The co-driver was Seth Straight of Rutland, Vermont who is part of the Saab Rally Team that I have posted about previously. The video and text that I have just received from them includes an in-car video and some descriptive text on their experience of the 1961 SAAB 96 that is outfitted with a GT750 engine and 3-speed transmission.

Here is a a quote by Bruce Turk about the event:

Special thanks to Co-Driver Seth Strait of Rutland Vermont for keeping me going in the right direction and for taking some really awesome in car video.

The video shows just a portion of one stage. We finished the rally without any mechanical problems, 20 stages, 13 hours in total. This is some hand held in car footage taken using a Cannon S3IS at rally New York. The car was the triple “0” car or “000” which is a … all » course opening vehicle which pre-runs the rally road prior to competitors. Top speeds of 75 mph were reached which is impressive considering the car has only a 750cc 2 stroke 3 cylinder engine with 30 or 40 hp.
