Saab Sighting of the Week – Washington, D.C.

Posted on 24. Apr, 2007 by in 2000-2009, 900, Saab Sightings, Washington, D.C.

This past weekend as I was bicycling through the Georgetown area of Washington, D.C. I managed to spot a beautiful Saab 900 convertible in Monte Carlo Yellow. I took this photo on Earth Day, April 22nd. Enjoy the highlighted convertible in the foreground with the yellow tulips and the background in greyscale for contrast.

If anyone wants to buy one just like this, let me know. Mine is listed as being made in Nystadt Finland.

There are two 1991 yellow convertibles that I know of in CT. One that is in the New Haven/Branford area and mine, in Bridgeport/Fairfield area (68,000 miles/original owner). I also saw the one in Georgetown during the past summer. One with very low mileage sold last year in upper NY state. Also, I believe there is one in the Boston area. If anyone has seen others, would love to know how many of the original 300 are still out there.

Wow. I live near and attend Georgetown part time. I have never seen this bumblebee in the neighborhood. I wonder if they are a member of the DC Saab Club (WASSAAB)?

Mine has about 57,000 miles on it. The top was getting tears, so I replaced it recently. I’m in S.E. Kentucky. If you know anyone in your club that would be interested, tell them to make an offer. I still have it for sale, but not very publicly.

Sorry Ryan, I’d gotten no response from this board, so I haven’t checked back in a while. I’m selling it because I have a Discovery Trek edition Land Rover that I drive and this Saab doesn’t get the TLC it needs. It’s a great car and I start it up and drive it a bit every now and then so that it doesn’t get rusty and contract all the problems that a car gets when it sits idle for a long time. Because of the low miles, I’m thinking of selling it for around $7000. Less than I’ve put in it. I don’t think that’s a bad price for the most lusted after Saab ever made. Anyone interested can E-mail me at stars_alpha@hotmail.com. Thanks!

That sounds like a great car for a great price, what are the miles on it?

    Best,

Other than my Monte Carlo Yellow 91 SE, there seem to be many here in the Boston/Cape Cod area…..

Hi! This is Pedro from Portugal. We have some real Saab fans here in Portugal. We do have a club called “Saab clube de Portugal” and usually meet twice a year.
I’m fortunate to have some Saab’s in my garage and my favourite is my 1991 900 turbo convertible Monte Carlo yellow; 2 of these cars came to Portugal at the time, and i managed to buy one from the first owner; the other one must be in Sweden by now, i guess, since it was sold new to a swedish soccer player (Magnusson) that was in a Portuguese team (Benfica) at the time. Mine has 180 000 Km’s in the counter and is still fine. Greetings from Portugal to everyone!

Welcome to the group! You have something really special in your ‘bumblebee’, never get rid of it if possible. When the time comes for the big-cost repairs like a new transmission or engine rebuild, I would get them done because your car is truly one of a special few.
