Saab Automobile’s Media Website, Now Features Videos

Saab Media Online, the official website of Saab Automobile for the press and media alike, now features videos. This feature as many have indicated to me in the numerous e-mails I have recently received, appears to be “ironically” similiar to a prominent “feature” that my site, Saab History had begun back in 2005, when the title of the website was “Saab Media Online”, with the relevant associated url www.saabvideos.com

My opinion is, this is a nice addition to the site, but with all sincerity, it would have been nice to have been contacted by Saab Automobile from whomever manages this site about collaborating on the videos idea of this feature. Hopefully this posting will help initiate this dialog with Saab Automobile.

Here is the first press releases from my site, Saab Media Online communicating my idea of Saab videos to the International Saab Community, over two years ago.

As a Saab Enthusiast from the day I got my drivers license, I have been forever taken by the Saab Automobile. Not until recently, with the roller coast of Saab Automobile’s news as of late, I asked myself “what can I do to help promote the Saab brand in a newfound way unlike any other”? The idea was to use what I had to the fullest potential. I decided to begin a project by creating the most comprehensive Saab video library so that future generations could enjoy and better understand Saab’s history. I have been fortunate to have myself and to have others that have had such videos to get started in putting together a list of specific saab official videos.

In furthering this project, I am looking to see if there are others out there that have in their collection or know someone who has, any old and preferably “official” Saab videos or any exceptions that would be considered rare and good for the collection.

These Saab videos, generally produced on VHS/S-VHS videocassettes or on professional media could include advertisements, promotions and any other such material. A few folks that have had videos, have physically mailed what they have to me domestically or internationally, and I have converted them to electronic format, then returned the videocassettes safely and securely back to them. To the best of my knowledge there are still a considerable amount of videos that are out there that can be added to this collection which can be shared to the entire Saab community as well as any newcomers to the brand, however I do realize that this project will also be an ongoing work-in-progress as it is nearly impossible to call it “complete” at any given point.

The purpose of this project is to get everyone that is either in the Saab community, a newfound awareness of Saab’s history through videos from yesterday to today.

I look forward to anyone who can assist in this project for the greater Saab community in digging out their old Saab videos from their attic, basement or storage facility, etc. and mailing me their videos so I can convert them, mail them back to you, and load them on the website for future generations to enjoy!
