In the Saab Automobile internal publication for Saab employees, “Saab Days” (Saab Dagar), there was an interview that took place of Saab Enthusiasts from the United States that made it all the way to Trollhättan, Sweden for the 60th Anniversary Saab Festival this past June 7th-10th, 2007.

Jon Williams and Jeff Proposki of the New York Saab Owners Club and the New England Saab Association, respectively are the two Saab Enthusiasts that were singled out from the crowd and given the opportunity to speak freely to the folks from Saab Days who decided to ask them a number of questions.

I can’t imagine why they were singled out? This story and especially the photos, continue to keep me smiling. I hope they bring a smile on your face as well!

Here is a transcript of their interview translated by a Lars Carlsson:

With viking cap, braids and saab tattoo the two friends from USA are sticking out from the crowd on the Saab festival. The viking equipped Jon Williams from New York and the Saab logotype tattooed Jeff Proposki from Boston are devoted Saab enthusiasts.

Actually how big Saab fans are you, Jon?

Jon: Really big if you ask me. I have 19 different Saab´s myself.

19 ! that was really impressing. Which are the models?

Jon: There are different models with start from 1981 until 1991.

Which one is your favourite amongst them?

Jon: With no doubt my black Saab 900 Convertible from 1991 with the luggage holder on the trunk lid.

And you Jeff, how big Saab fan are you?

Jon: Do you need to ask that ? I mean I have the Saab emblem tattooed on my upper arm. It can hardly be more devoted than that.

What is the best with the Saab festival?

Jon: All nice people around , the beautyful weather and all the fine Saab´s. Trollhättan and Sweden are so pleasant that we never want to go home.

Can´t you find anything that is bad?

Jon: In that case the only thing is that it is tricky to get ice to the drinks. We searched for long time until we found a fish dealer who after some persuasion accepted to sell ice to us. So now everything is OK again.

The only thing that he got wrong was the reply to “Which one is your favorite amongst them?” He mistakenly said….”with the luggage holder on the trunk lid” I was standing next to a convertible with the luggage holder, but what I told him was “with the Airflow Bumpers” like the car next to me.
