Saab Master Technician Challenge – 1999

Thanks to two generous Saab Enthusiasts who have recently donated to the second phase of the Saab Film Project, we can now enjoy the first of the two films that have been provided to Saab History from a production company that has previously worked with Saab Automobile USA.

The first film is the 1999 Saab Master Technician Challenge

For a number of years, Saab Cars USA. Inc. has had held annual Saab Master Technician Challenges for top master service technicians from around the United States to put their diagnostic and mechnical skills to the ultimate test where they compete with others for awards and prizes.

The Saab Master Technicians participated in 6 stations consisting of the following areas at this event:

Station 1: “Find The Data & Diagnose the Problem”

Station 2: “Identify the Special Tools & Saab nomenclature”

Station 3: “Repair Order for 9-3 Convertible Top”

Station 4: “Customer Satisfaction & Product Knowledge”

Station 5: “Diagnose Electrical Problems on 1999 9-5″

Station 6: “Interpret Wiring Diagram with Tech-2″

There were many other items for fun such as driving the reverse steering car, balance the tennis ball in the bowl mounted on a Saab 9-5 hood to stuffing the trunk of a 9-5 Wagon. I’ll leave the rest a secret for you to enjoy in the video below:
