I have finally made it safely to Portland, Oregon where I will be staying for the holidays this year. During this time, I got the opportunity to visit Saab dealership and site sponsor, Garry Small Saab of Portland.

While visiting Garry Small Saab, the only exclusive family-owned and operated dealership in this region, I got the opportunity to get a nice tour of their dealership first hand. This experience was by far one of the most nostalgic I have had in a Saab dealership. In the 21 years of operation of Garry Small Saab since they started in 1986, their signage, memorabilia, vintage material and products on hand, certainly represented all of Saab Automobile’s history stateside and abroad since 1947.

There were numerous take-aways and notables from this experience:

* Garry Small Saab is the only exclusive Saab Dealership in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States

* Garry Small Saab sales reflect an equal amount of Saab 9-3 models in comparison to the Saab 9-5s.

* Garry Small Saab receives requests almost daily, for both Cross-Wheel Drive equipped Saabs as well as Diesel powered Saabs from perspective customers in the Pacific Northwest region.

* Garry Small Saab have loaned vehicles for two movies “Feast of Love” starring Morgan Freeman this past year as well as “Bandits” with Bruce Willis back in 2001.

* Garry Small Saab are restoring a well preserved SAAB 96 Monte-Carlo and currently own an extremely rare 1954 SAAB 92.

At the end of the visit I have had the privilege to depart in a 2007 Saab 9-3 Anniversary Edition SportCombi, similiar to what I test drove at the Saab Festival back in June for the weekend. Please expect a thorough writeup while I explore the 9-3 SportCombi over the weekend.

A special thank you goes to the staff at Garry Small Saab in supporting Saab History and also offering their time and resources for my visit today at their comfortable family owned dealership.
