The Saab Display at the NAIAS – 1994

What was formerly known as the Detroit Auto Show changed to the North American International Auto Show or NAIAS in 1989.

Last year, I was provided with a videocasette which was filmed by Calye Shovan, a Saab Enthusiast who most recently contributed to the success of the 2007 Saab Owners Convention that took place in Troy, Michigan this past August.

The videocasette that I received was of the Saab Display at the 1994 NAIAS. This video features the first new generation Saab 900 that is showcased on a rotating platform that was cut in half, depicting a clear section of the entire body and engine. The new generation 900, also known as the “NG900″ amongst the Saab community, also had a rotating “Safety” insert consisting of the other half of the Saab, to highlight how the key areas responded in a crash situation. An interesting dynamic display indeed. Enjoy the video.
