The Future of The Saab USA Dealership Network

The Saab Automobile USA Dealership Network in the United States, a country with a population of 300 million people, has approximately 235 Saab dealerships nationwide. Of these Saab dealerships in the United States, 81 or 34.47% are designated as Saab-only exclusive dealerships. It is also important to note that not all of these exclusive Saab dealerships utilize the Saab Designed dealership facilities.The other remaining Saab dealerships are indicated as variable dealerships which include multiple other brands, all under one roof so to speak.

Today, the Saab dealership network is changing as Mark Laneve, Vice President Sales of General Motor’s, who spoke at the recent Washington, D.C. auto show, indicates in the Auto blog. The specific change for the Saab dealership to consolidate that network involves, converting many facilities into a Saab/Hummer/Cadillac dealership arrangement, as mentioned at last years Saab Owners Convention roundtable during the 2007 Saab Owners Convention by Saab Automobile USA President, Steve Shannon.

The reason for consolidating the Saab dealership network as indicated by Steve Shannon in the video, is due to the fact that today, more people are doing their shopping online while real estate costs continue to rise. I highly suggest you watch this video from 31 minutes onward, if you have not already watched, as it gives great insight from a customer as well as from a management perspective on the state of the Saab Automobile USA dealership network today.

As this consolidation begins to become more apparent nationwide, it is my opinion that it will also become more and more clear that the exclusive Saab dealerships are a priceless asset to the Saab Automobile USA dealership network in the United States. It is important to also emphasize that of these 81 Saab exclusive dealerships in the United States, you will find a sales, service and parts staff that provide an unparalled level of knowledge in products and parts they sell combined with an intensive training background in service they offer.

It is my hope that these consolidated dealerships follow the exclusive dealerships who continue to raise the bar as well as the legacy of the Saab brand, moving into the future.
