Saab Automobile USA’s European Delivery Program

Posted on 19. May, 2008 by in 2000-2009

Saab Automobile USA’s European Delivery Program has been running just about as long as Saab USA has had operations in the United States.

At this time, this program has still been on hold since the past year, pending the need to “strengthen” the program as indicated below on Saab USA’s website.

Saab USA is working to strengthen our acclaimed European Delivery Program. This delivery option, which will incorporate new components, will be available for 2009 Saab vehicles.

So the question is: What needs to be “strengthened” in order to return the program back to the market so that perspective owners can enjoy the chance to pick up their Saab in Sweden and get it shipped back to the United States?
I understand the customers have been there requesting it, and it has been quite successful, so what’s really needed here and how much longer should we expect this program to be in limbo?

I have provided a few nice reviews from individuals who have personally experienced this program along with that simple step-by-step process just to re-educate us all again.

I urge you to read Saab History frequenter, Frank Wulfers account from his own European Delivery Program experience as well as a nice review in the U.S. Airways Magazine as well:

I leave you with a recap of just how easy the program is for the customer in as simple as three easy steps as well as some nice videos to show you spanning the years: 1988, 1997 and 2006 for your viewing pleasure:

Here is a current promotional video done in 2006 by Saab that clearly explains the current process directly below. I have also provided videos from 1997 and 1988 that provide some interesting historical information of this program. Although I am unclear as to what year this international delivery program began for United States customers, I hope that these videos bring more clarity to the program as a whole.
