Saab History site sponsor, New Salem Saab of Albany, New York has had quite a history of ice racing and continue to participate in this unique Saab experience to this very day.

Today, Darryl Carl, Owner and President of New Salem Saab enjoys continuing in his Father’s, Freddy Carl’s footsteps by ice racing in the Adirondacks with the Adirondack Motor Enthusiast Club (AMEC).

Darryl’s father ran SAAB’s with a #29, so if you can spot that SAAB 96, you have identified the early beginnings to New Salem Saab’s ice racing legacy that continues

The New Salem Saab’s ice racing history is long with Saab, but it is important to note that the aforementioned AMEC club has used Saabs ever since the sixties.

A thank you to New Salem Saab and Dave Burnham for providing the information and footage for us to enjoy here on Saab History.

One of the most entertaining videos I’ve seen in a long time, really loved the oldies music. Was that a Saab convertible in the opening shots?—hilarious. Wish I could invent a time machine to go back and watch some of those races.
