Saab Automobile really seems to be working hard at partnering with the bicycling segment these days, check out another press release that came in, this time from Slipstream themselves.

I wonder if this partnership has anything to do with the Saab-Mavic partnership I mentioned earlier?

I sent an e-mail to Jonathan Vaughters at Slipstream and Nicole Jankowski at GM to see if we can get more details and perhaps some nice photographs of this arrangement.

Boulder, CO – June 4, 2008 – Team Slipstream-Chipotle Presented by H30, a professional American cycling team dedicated to promoting ethical sporting and developing the next generation of cycling champions, announced that Saab will now be the official U.S. team vehicle. The Team will now be supporting its world class riders with the 2008 9-3 SportCombi vehicle which they will debut at Philly Week in early June.

“Transportation is crucial not only in getting us from place to place but also in our ability to properly support our riders while training and at races,” said Jonathan Vaughters, CEO/President, Slipstream. “The Saab 9-3 SportCombi vehicles are the perfect fit for our team’s needs in the U.S., and we look forward to working with them this season.”

“Coupling fuel-efficiency with turbo-charging for more than 30 years, Saab is dedicated to spirited performance with a conscience, much like Team Slipstream-Chipotle who is dedicated to ethical sporting paired with passion to ride,” said Nicole Jankowski, Saab Automobile USA Sales Promotions Manager.

Saab’s Scandinavian design makes it stylish for the team which is also known for its distinctive argyle kits, and Saab’s responsible performance and first-class safety keep the team safe while traveling across the country. The Saab 9-3 SportCombi features a turbocharged engine and sport-tuned chassis which are ideal for tackling the winding mountain roads of cycling races. It also has five doors and an ingenious cargo space that make it equally practical for transporting the team and equipment.
