September 16th, 2008, General Motors Celebrates 100 Years by focusing on its next century of the future of transportation.

There will be a number of events and activities taking place on this day that consist of a live global broadcast that begins at 8:00am from GM facilities around the world, featuring technologies, products and leaders, and some extra “surprises” according to the GM Next website.

In addition, there will be virtual chats with Bob Lutz and others as well as a “Future of Transportation Roundtable” with GM, leaders from industry, academia and government. In all of these activities, you can login and ask your own questions, directly, so here’s another opportunity to get in as many “Saab specific” questions in.

GM Commemorates Centennial Tomorrow with GMnext Day

You are invited to join General Motors tomorrow for GMnext Day — a series of forward-looking events to commemorate the company’s centennial. The activities begin at 8:00 a.m. EDT on September 16, 2008 — the day GM officially turns 100. Complete information can be found by visiting http://day.gmnext.com. Activities for the day include:

* Global Broadcast: GMnext Day will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a Global Broadcast Preshow followed by the live Global Broadcast at 8:30 a.m. EDT from GM’s headquarters at the Renaissance Center in Detroit and from four additional GM locations including Russelsheim, Germany; Shanghai, China; Mexico City, Mexico and Sao Paulo, Brazil. The Broadcast will highlight technologies, global products, GM leaders and future leaders from around the world. The Global Broadcast will stream live on GMnext.com for public viewing.

* Live Chats: Beginning at 10:30 a.m. EDT, three GM leaders, including Vice Chairman Bob Lutz, will be chatting with the world in the GMnext.com chat room, speaking candidly about the day’s events and what’s next for GM. The chats are open to the public.

* “Future of Transportation: The Next 100 Years” Roundtable: At 1:30 p.m. EDT, a number of transportation experts will come together for the “Future of Transportation: The Next 100 Years” Roundtable, a candid discussion on what’s next for personal transportation. Topics will range from alternative fuels and advanced propulsion systems to government regulation and infrastructure. The discussion will stream live on GMnext.com. Visitors to the site will have the ability to ask questions in real time.
