The Saab 9-3 Sport Combi – 2005

The Saab 9-3 SportCombi debuted in 2005 in Trollhättan, Sweden, two years after the Saab 9-3 Sport Hatch concept was shown to the public.

In june of the launch year, the Sport Combi was the model that reached the four million model production milestone. This mark, for the Saab Automobile brand, was quite an accomplishment for a historically small niche car company.

It is understood that this model was a stop-gap measure prior to its facelift that took place in June of 2007 as a 2008 model year that also took place in Trollhättan, Sweden during the 2007 60th Anniversary Saab Festival.

This 2008 9-3 SportCombi, which was inspired by both the 9-3 Sport Hatch as well as the Aero-X concept cars, came out with all-wheel drive as an option.

The same year a high performance 9-3 Turbo-X SportCombi emerged with all-wheel drive (XWD), and today all 2009 Saab 9-3 SportCombis can come with XWD.

After, two concept cars, three production cars, we are finally going to see the long-awaited Saab 9-3 XC Cross-Combi, so here’s hoping it comes out soon as rumored and sells very well, it is about time!
