At the Saab Automobile AB facilities in Trollhättan, Sweden, we have the frequently mentioned Saab Test Track, which is located behind the Saab Factory.

I thought it would be a great time to showcase this test track. The track itself, as indicated in the photo above, is on the far right secured behind the fence and hillside, that and parking lot, ultimately separates it from the Saab Factory.

It can be logically deduced that this test track is for low-impact convenient testing of various projects with both the factory and technical center nearby.

If you look closely at the sky photo below , you can even see a straight piece of track on the right side within the test track that I recall where the outdoor segments of the offset crash tests take place, such as the 9-5 and 9-3.

On the test track itself, I am not sure how long it has existed, but I know it has been there in the 1980’s because I vividly recall the Saab EV-1 concept car rounding one of the bends as depicted in the Saab Film Archive. Today, we have even seen the Saab 9-X Air concept rounding the corners of this track in two recent promotional videos, one featuring Mark Adams, the other with the vehicle itself.

I would be very interested to hear more about the history and function of this test track facility and how it has been utilized over the years by Saab Automobile.
