Swedish Car Day 9 takes place this year on October 19th, 2008

I can’t believe it’s already been 9 years already since the first Swedish Car Day took place. The first Swedish Car Day or SCD, took place in 2000 which was in fact, the first Saab event for the recently organized, New England Saab Association.

If you have never attended Swedish Car Day, I would strongly suggest you visit my photo archive from last year’s event SCD 8.

Here is the first press release about this event:

July 28th, 2000

CRS in conjunction with Boston Volvo Village, announces the first annual Swedish Car Day at the Museum of Transportation in Brookline on Sunday, October 15th, 2000. The event will be held on the lawn of the museum, starting at 10:00am with vehicle judging at 2:00pm. The museum of Transportation is a delight in and of itself, and I would encourage one and all to pay a visit. The lawn events schedule is listed on their website www.mot.org, and the Automotive section of the Boston Globe will often mention upcoming events. The museum has a wide spectrum of special days for insterested constituencies; we can now add Swedish Car Day to the outstanding annual events the Museum will host.

We invite any interested owner to display their SAAB/Saab pride and joy, and there will be judging of vehicles in several categories, including people’s choice. We hope to draw a large contingent of interesting SAABs, new and old, to show the Volvo crowd where the real passion in Swedish automobiles lies. Prizes will be awarded.

Besides the vehicles displayed by their owners, SAAB and Volvo will present an array of new vehicles, refreshments from SAAB on your hand for those seeking an insiders view of their favorite car. We also have extended invitations to other vendors whose products are relevent to Swedish automobiles. We hope to see many friends, old and new at this event.

This 9th Anniversary event will evidently focus on the history, how it began and evidently have some more surprises this year.

For more information about this event, please visit the Swedish Car Day Website as well as the Museum of Transportation website as well:
