Saab History On Swedish Car Day 9

For the first time ever, this past Sunday’s ninth annual Swedish Car Day failed over and over to not inspire me and ultimately, will be my last.

There were too numerous key observations I had which included the following: Saab USA Heritage Collection no-show, there was no special events, the attendance was dismal, the food was overpriced and the weather was chilling to say the least and the only goodies provided, consisted of a v*lv* mug, and a Saab Accessories book, to obviously encourage us to go out and spend even more of our hard earned money. If all this wasn’t enough, having young kids taking our cash upon entry was convenient, because I couldn’t ask them why the cost has risen so much and what noble cause our money was really going towards.

scd_caravan.jpgThere are numerous other reasons I could list, but I must confess this Swedish Car Day will be my last and will be unfortunately forgettable.

However, all that being said the highlights of the event except for meeting with some friendly faces during the course of the day, actually involved a Saab caravan to the event with some very nice friends of mine and that was memorable.

The show was kind of weak this year, the weather didn’t help. I still vote Carlisle as the best show of the year!

I still had a good time, meeting up with old Saab friends and such, but it was nothing like last year’s show. I can’t believe how many less Volvos there were this year, it was incredible.

I totally agree with the arbitrary $20 entrance fee, I can’t remember what its been in years past, but it definitely wasn’t that much. I didn’t even get a mug, i got a crappy Volvo water bottle :( .

I agree, the show was fairly lame this year, and Chris is right, Carlisle is the best show of the year! I think numbers were down across the board, probably due to the price increase.

The reason Carlise is so great, is because of the diversity of the people who attend. I’m beginning to feal as though I’ve seen each of every car multiple times before, and frankly, I’m sick of seeing that TurboX which no one wants or can afford to buy. It makes me sad…

    Golfhunter,

Good observation, there were better events in the past..it’s sad that it has gone to this.

What’s worse is that it appears that no one managing the event knows or may even care…
