Does Saab Automobile AB Have a Business Continuity Plan If GM Goes Bankrupt?

If General Motors goes bankrupt, I wonder what kind of business continuity plan Saab Automobile AB has for this scenario. As we now know, Saab Automobile AB have been recently consulting with the Swedish government for financial support, something that is a tell tale sign that they are beginning to see the writing on the wall for their parent company and want some assurances that they will be around.

I have said it before and I’ll say again, even though there are some “reasons” why GM will never sell Saab, mainly because Saab is basically providing support for all of the rest of GM’s brands whether they’d like to admit it, I still believe that Saab would be better for the consumer if General Motors could sell them.

Over the years, I had really thought that after nearly 20 years of ownership, GM was finally getting it, but we clearly realize this is not the case, but merely more lip service to the public, while continuing to explore how they can benefit from Saab, not Saab consumer.

While the products have been interesting, with some exceptions, I am deeply concerned about the future for Saab Automobile AB in Sweden.

Here’s hoping that much like what is going on with Opel, Saab has some sort of business continuity plan and would be able to “separate” from General Motors somehow and turn out ok.
