Robert,

Thanks for your comment. The problem with the private jets is that it isolates CEO's from the reality of the world which is why their leadership is a significant disconnect from the wants and needs of society.

The closer the CEO's live their lives to the rest of us, the better connected they will be to the needs and wants of their customer base, and society as a whole.

Living in isolation has been the entire problem that is killing the economy.

All the idiots do is blast and vilify one of the last American Industries left. The corporate planes are leased, and just like your lease you have to pay it until it expires. Some have expired and none are being renewed. An airplane is an efficiency tool, like any other tool. CEO's of large corporations have more important things to do than sitting in airports for hours. Sen Shelby is just envious is everybody else?
The only reason it was a big issue is because we have assholes like Sen Shelby and others who want to make the "Big Three" CEO's look bad. Shelby, who paid Billions (of American taxpayers money) to get foreign car makers in their state and don't want competition. All the foreign car makers also get subsidies from their governments. Why do we allow this? If that is the right thing to don't we give subsidies to our own American Industries to put them on an equal basis. There is no way any American company that does not get subsidies, can compete with companies get subsidies from Japan or Germany and also from American government, city, county, state or Federal. If the American automakers fail, God help us, that will be our only hope.
