Could Saab Financial Services Corporation Return?

Posted on 19. Mar, 2009 by in 2000-2009

With the backlash from major banking institutions in the United States such as Bank of America as of late, and the downfall of GMAC, could Saab Financial Services Corporation return here in the United States?

Historically, the Saab-Scania Financial lease program which officially ramped up in 1988 was converted into the Saab Financial Services program, then that program was converted into the GMAC leasing which began in 2007.

Perhaps, a reconstructed version of this company could work supporting new loans as well as possibly bringing back leasing to customers as well? Here are the addresses for Saab Financial Services LLC, who knows if they still answer mail here, but perhaps it’s worth a try to see?

If you are a proactive Saab dealership, perhaps this could be an initiative worth investigating the reconstruction of Saab Financial Services Corporation to be “owned by Saab dealerships for Saab dealerships to serve their customers”?

I certainly hope so, as the sharp decline of the 9-5 was due to the end of leasing in September 2008. The main 9-5 demographic were lesees, who were looking forward to leasing another 9-5, only to find that they were no longer available, so they walked out of the showrooms to get their second ranked Lexi (JD Powers latest).

This is a shame, as financing was too expensive, and difficult, as we are now seeing, with the Bank of America Story below. I purchased both my 1989 SPG, and 2001 Viggen on lease, and financing was not an option. In fact, this is a wonderful way to purchase a saab, especially knowing, that I was going to keep the cars indefinately.

I would buy out the lease at 119 days before due, save several hundred dollars, and buy a superb used car from a known owner!
