Saab History has recently attended the 2009 the New England Auto Show in Boston, Massachusetts to see the all new Saab 9-5. The last time we were at the Boston Auto Show was in the fall of 2007, when the North American premiere of the Turbo-X took place.

Having experienced the global debut of the all new Saab 9-5 back in September, this event was of course a smaller display, naturally as it is a continuation of the North American premiere which began in Miami during October.

Upon entering the show, we headed directly to see the all new Saab 9-5, which was a delight to see. This premiere in Boston, was the first time a new Saab 9-5 was in New England in twelve years. The last time a new Saab 9-5 was shown to the public for the first time in New England was during 1997 Saab Owners Convention in Waterville Valley, New Hampshire.

As we began to take photos of the car, we were greeted by a familiar face in the auto show circuit at the Saab stand. We learned that while I could take all the photos we wanted of the 2010 model year Saabs, both the all new Saab 9-5 as well as the 9-3x, would remain locked so that the quality of the interior vehicles would remain intact for the duration of the show. Fortunately, the window was open in the all new Saab 9-5, so we managed to get a good feel for it from the inside as as well. We enjoyed the time there and took some good photos along with video content as well that may be shown later.

This was the second time I managed to see the all new Saab 9-5 in person and now I just want to test drive it, so here’s hoping that this opportunity becomes a reality. As I’ve said before in Frankfurt and I will say it again here, while this auto show gives visitors the chance to look at the cars, there is no value in providing the readers details as to what it’s capable of as a vehicle until such a real-life test drive experience.

Overall, We were very pleased that we had the chance be there, and we must say that Saab’s really holding their own with their displays. At one point, we thought we were going to get the chance to buy an Apple product, then it hit us, this was not the Apple store. The appearance of the Saab display looks very similar to Apple’s store appearance in design with its minimalist clean aesthetics and not to mention the appropriate use of the color white!

I hope you enjoy the photographs and if you are in the nearby region, I once again urge you to go see it for yourself as the show will continue until Sunday.

Ryan ,nice pictures.I wish I could have been there but ,unfortunately I cannot make it.( I was so counting on it).
One more thing Ryan, I don’t know if you noticed but they always display the 93 with the 17″ V spoke wheels which don’t do the car justice, there are 18″ V spoke wheels that look the same (but bigger of course) and it makes a huge difference in how the car presents itself.
Of course when I pay off my 2004 95 aero, the first thing I’ll do is go get the 93x with the proper 18″ V spoke wheels.
    I hope that days comes.

Thanks again Ryan for the story and the pics.

Hello. Thank you. I agree with you, wheels always made the big difference in visual presentation.

I like your thinking about the 9-3x, of course it’s still an if, at this point.

Hope to connect at some point.
