A Summary Of The Saab Dealer Meeting In Boston

The U.S. Saab Dealer meeting took place in Boston today and apparently 80% of the national Saab dealer body attended.

These dealer principles got the chance to meet with Victor Muller, Jan Ake Jonsson as well as Mike Colleran.

The items discussed or depicted as part of the meeting involved the following items.

* The Global “Save Saab” Campaign
* No Dealerships would be closing
* Saab 9-5 Sedan (open ) & Completed Saab 9-4x (locked)
* New Saab 9-3 Sketch Shown
* Electrification of the Turbo
* Electric Saabs with Boston Power discussed as well as Saab Hybrids
* Sourcing Power trains & Platforms from other companies than GM.
* Leasing To Return
* 2010 Saab 9-3 Aero Interior upgraded

All in all, the Saab dealers that attended were left with a strong positive opinion about their future supporting Saab and that’s a great start to this new era of independence.

    What is electrification of the turbo? Otherwise this meeting was crucial

    Electrification of the turbo refers to powering the turbocharger with an electric motor as an adjunct to the exhaust gas driven turbine. This would allow the use of a smaller engine and relatively larger turbocharger without inducing unacceptable turbo lag. Stored electrical energy from the car battery would make up for the lack of adequate exhaust gas to drive the turbine when an increase in power is called for.

    2010 Saab 9-3 Aero Interior upgraded – I wonder how so? Hirsch dash as standard? That would be nice. I’m hoping we see the whole 9-3 line interior upgraded to something similar to the new 9-5 for model year 2011. They need to do something to help 9-3 sales until the new 9-3 arrives for model year 2013.
