I have a saab 01-93 hatchback and this car is the bomb let me tell you. How ever my timing cover seems to have been from a bad casting it has hair line cracks and beads all over it, not to mention to repair that part ran me up $2700 I was able to keep the old timing cover and was wondering if I could find out who to talk to about this. It is my opinion that this part has a manufacuer defect in it and if at all posible help others with thier continued enjoyment out of thier saabs. Other than that I am totaly thrilled by my Saab.

Bernadine,

Hello and thanks for your public comment here.

I should suggest you get your car serviced someplace less expensive because $1,500 for front brake pads, rotors and tie rod ends is highway robbery.

Too many situations you explained leads me to believe this, please check into some alternatives.

I leased my Saab 05 9.3 in 6/05. I have had many problems
with it. Two years ago (2007) my battery died and had to
be towed to one of the only dealerships in Pgh.Pa area.
This location is about 50 miles for me-the battery of all things.
Then 2/08 Tie rod broke after hitting a large hole , then 8/or
9/08 had to replace brakes and roters. These 2 figures for
2008 was roughly 1,500 dollars each. In between these
two breakdowns in 2008 , lease expired in 6/08. I made the
decision to purchase my car, which I never should have. My
working career doesn't allow me to have a great amount of
money. I have a mortgage, car, utilities, and numerous credit
cards to live off of. My credit score was o.k. , but to purchase
the car my interest rate was 9%. So I borrowed a couple
thousand to apply to the car. As of 1/09 , I owe a little over
11,000 thousand dollars. BUT, I LOVED MY CAR AND REMAINED DEVOTED TO KEEP IT. Now, 1/09 I experienced
smoke last week coming inside the car. I pulled over and was
told by a MUFFLER GARAGE to have it towed to your dealer, it
may catch on fire if you drive it. So, I had to purchase AAA
to tow my car again to Wexford Pa (outside of PGH) which is
around 50 miles one way. They took many hours and came
up with the clutch went bad. So I waited until they got the
part, paid for a rented car (6 days) and brought my car home
today (1,600+ dollars) later. The car still has the same smell
that it had last week when smoke came into the car. Maybe,
this is temporary. So decide for me is my loyality to SAAB
RIDICULOUS and I am a lousy driver, or could it be this car
is some what of a LEMMON AT 62,000 + MILES? If I can
have some financial adjustment for this that would be great.
Oh, by the way Dany'e is a service representative there at
WRIGHT SAAB IN WEXFORD PA. She has always tried to
consider my feelings, but the amount of money is astronomically outrageous. I have a very hard time , and
as I mentioned this car has set me back beyond 4,500 dollars
for the repairs alone.
THANK YOU FOR ATTENTION, Bernadine Rastoka
