The Saab Newsroom has updated their website to reflect the SAVE SAAB campaigns around the world.

Here’s a summary from Saab Automobile’s perspective at this time:

Remarkable support for Saab

As negotiations continue over Saab’s future, owners and enthusiasts from across the globe have joined forces to demonstrate their loyalty to the Saab brand and their determination to keep it alive.
Led by Saab’s extensive online community, the ‘Save our Saab’ campaign has given Saab fans the chance to share their memories, photos and experiences with one another across all social media channels from Facebook to Flickr, Youtube to Twitter.

Saab’s leading enthusiasts have also been instrumental in rallying the global Saab network and orchestrating the global ‘Save our Saab’ convoys. The convoys have seen Saab drivers gather and drive en masse as a public show of support to Saab. So far there have been events organised in 42 locations across the globe with more planned for the coming days. More than 5,000 cars have participated worldwide resulting in considerable media coverage on and off line.

Here at Saab we have been overwhelmed by the loyalty, creativity and passion of our customers and would like to thank everyone for their tireless efforts and continued support.

Saab Automobile sends an update to their employees about the status of the company, the December 31st deadline that is no longer and the ongoing bids.

Work continues

After GM’s decision and communication December 18, the work of planning the decommissioning of Saab Automobile continued, while GM continues to evaluate the stakeholders that are in force a purchase of the company. This work has also continued during and after Christmas and will continue into the new year. Since the settlement decision December 18 is the deadline previously announced by GM – that is, on 31 December – no longer current. We are now waiting for information about GM’s reaction to the bids received.

Saab commitment to grow while increasing and the customers, enthusiasts who select retailers worldwide in various forms, its support for Saab. Special groups and so-called “fan pages” on Facebook has been started, and we see evidence of petition campaigns and open letters. One of the latest examples is the song “Griffin up!” By David Blumberg, located at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-jUir7ypPU

With this, we wish all the employees a nice New Year’s Eve and a Happy New Year and we will return with information as soon as something new is to bring.

I have heard from the folks at the Rocky Mountain Saab Club that representatives from the newly reorganized Saab Automobile USA, Saab Automobile Sweden and/or Koenisegg are looking like they will possibly be present during the event at the Saturday Night awards banquet at the 2009 Saab Owners Convention.

Here’s the news below for your reference. This is good to hear, up until this point it was completely unclear.

Great Breaking News!

Saab USA, Saab Sweden, or possibly Koenigsegg will be present at Copper Mountain for this year’s 2009 North American Saab Owners Convention. A remarkable announcement will be made at the Saturday night Awards Banquet.

Saab, or possibly Koenigsegg, will address the year’s biggest gathering of Saab enthusiasts to announce the Koenigsegg philosophy and the new direction of the “Road to Indpendence”, explaining future plans for Saab in the US. We are all anxiously awaiting the Good News!

In addition, Saab will deliver and display a series of already-built new Saab’s for us to admire at Copper Mountain.

A longstanding SOC tradition is the Sunday morning roundtable discussion during which Saab executives lead a Q&A session. We will invite Koenigsegg and Saab to participate in this event.

Plan to attend the festivities by registering for SOC09. You can register through the convention web site www.rockymtnsaabclub.com/SOC09. Accommodations are also listed.

Do not miss this grand event!

Please help spread the news! Pass this message along to all in the Saab Community. If you are part of a club, chat room, Facebook, Saabhistory, or any other form of media coverage, please forward this message so we can make this the biggest event and show our support for the new Saab

See you in Colorado!!!
