Victor Muller, the CEO of Spyker Cars NV, will be speaking at the North American International Auto Show this Tuesday at 3:05pm as part of the Automotive News World Congress.

If you are new to the entire ongoing sale process with Saab Automobile, it should be mentioned that he has placed three bids for the company with the most recent submitted this past Thursday.

I am looking to find out who will be filming this speaking engagement to see if I can get us a chance to watch it here on SaabHistory.com.

Spyker’s Muller on agenda

On the Tuesday schedule will be Victor Muller, who will speak at 3:05 p.m.

Muller, CEO and founder of the Dutch sports car maker Spyker Cars NV, is involved in a bid to possibly acquire the Saab brand from GM. Spyker has looking at Saab since GM said last month it would wind down its money-losing Swedish brand after two decades of control.

Muller revived the previously dormant Spyker brand in 2000. As CEO, he is responsible for developing and overseeing the direction of the company and serves as the designer of Spyker’s hand-built sports cars: the C8 Aileron, C8 Laviolette and C8 Spyder.

Other speakers at this year’s congress include Ford Motor Co. CEO Alan Mulally, Chrysler Group CEO Sergio Marchionne, Penske Corp. Chairman Roger Penske and Bo Andersson, chairman of the Russian automaker GAZ Group.

The theme of the Automotive News World Congress is “Navigating the New Automotive Epoch.” The congress is Jan. 12-14 in Detroit during media week of the North American International Auto Show.

Wall Street Journal Says Saab Must Be Carved Out Of GM

The Wall Street Journal says today that Saab must be carved out of GM in order to receive state aid from the Swedish government.

I am liking where this news dialog is going today, especially after Saab Automobile AB’s own Jan-Ã…ke Jonsson has said that in order for Saab Automobile to succeed, they need to be separated from GM.

DETROIT (Dow Jones)–Ford Motor Co. (F) and General Motors Corp. (GM) will have to “carve out” Volvo and Saab to secure any state aid from Sweden, a senior Swedish official said Monday.

“Sweden also plans to synchronize approval for any aid with the March timetable laid out by U.S. authorities monitoring loans granted to GM and Chrysler LLC.”

We know that the “carving out” of Saab from GM will be challenging, but certainly not impossible given the integration between them.

It will be interesting to see how this de-integration process begins with Saab Automobile and General Motors. I hope it yields the same positive results as it did with Daimler after departing from the DaimlerChrysler split I mentioned earlier.
