The 2009 Saab Owners Convention Begins Today

Posted on 13. Aug, 2009 by .

Today marks the first day of the 2009 Saab Owners Convention at Copper Mountain Resort in Colorado.

I have not heard back from anyone who has arrived yet, however, I did manage to find this great web cam at the resort.

As you can see from the camera, we’re seeing the Saab USA Heritage Collection cars, beginning with the 1956 Sonett I, the 1964 SAAB 95, the 1952 SAAB 92, the 1978 Saab 99 Turbo and the 1999 Saab 9-3 Viggen all being set up out front of the main base lodge area.

Update: Now, you can see the 2010 Saab 9-3x Cross-Combi in Pepper Green added to the center of all of the heritage collection cars. This is the same vehicle that debuted at the New York Auto Show that I filmed back in April thanks to Cherry Hill Saab. I guess there won’t be test drives available in the 9-3x if it’s going to be on permanent static display with the heritage collection.

I have included this live web cam on this page in addition to the lower left-hand column underneath the SOC logo for people to see things develop in real-time, over the course of the weekend.

Here is the schedule for opening day:

The Grenier Family in Leicester, Massachusetts have submitted their Saab Family Fleet Photo to Saab History this week.

They have quite the collection as you can see above, and now they’re added to the list of others such as the Koehnen, Frisch and Fagen families. I think it’s very cool to see that they have both a Saab 9-5 as well as an old Saab 95 in their collection too!

Here’s their message that arrived with the photos over the weekend. If you are a Saab family, click here to submit your Saab family fleet photo too!

We are a Saab family! That is for sure. That is all we drive and have driven for years! Submitting two different pictures one with the 78 95 GL and one with the 98 Convertible.. Can’t drive both 🙂

Posted on 29. Jun, 2009 by .

I have recently managed to locate an extremely rare SAAB 95 television advertisement from 1961. This particular video, one minute in length was done in English, by Phillipsons, SAAB’s first reseller in their home country of Sweden.

This was a great surprise and a great video, the vintage footage is astounding and I am glad I can share this here on Saab History.

I have added this video to the Saab History video archive., now at 478.

The Saab 9-5 Wagon, a continuation of the 9-5 Sedan lineup, and a throwback to the SAAB 95 (1959-1978), debuted at the Paris Auto Show in 1998 as a 1999 model year.

The Saab 9-5 wagon was designed by Einar Hareide and Tony Catignani, was also Trollhättan, Sweden.

Over the 9-5’s Wagon’s lifetime, much like the sedan it has undergone two exterior facelifts, once in 2002 and again in 2006. The 9-5’s final production model will be titled the “Griffin Edition” as a 2009 model year.

This model for Saab came equipped with the following specifications:
