As my test drive request still takes its time due to a GM media fleet volume being down to 30%, Saab Automobile releases some excellent Saab 9-3x Cross-Combi Photos in snow!

It’s too bad this vehicle was not available for me to test drive when we actually had substantial snowfall here earlier this year.

Saab Automobile Seeking Independence From GM

As we now know, Saab Automobile’s President, Jan-Ã…ke Jonsson has said that in order for Saab to be successful, they must be separate from General Motors, so the process to independence has begun.

This process will of course start with a plan due by February 17th, which will certainly take some time afterwards given the level of integration between Saab Automobile & GM.

What is not clear here is if Saab Automobile is planning on being actually sold by March as Saab & GM execs have both said it will need to be, or will it be simply be “separate from” GM through some partial state ownership or a little of both? Furthermore, an even bigger question I think we all want to know, is how independent could Saab Automobile be from General Motors regardless of who their new owner is?

I have sent some e-mails to Saab Automobile Sweden at this time to get some more details on this matter.

Koenigsegg Automotive AB Has No Plans To Buy Saab Automobile AB

Posted on 17. Dec, 2008 by .

As we know, there has been a lot of speculation as to who would be buying Saab Automobile AB.

In Sweden, there are not two, but three Swedish automobile manufacturers, Saab, Volvo & Koenigsegg, the Swedish race car manufacturer.

In an e-mail received from Koenigsegg as of late, I can tell you that a rumor that they would be buying Saab Automobile, is of course false.

Dear Ryan,

Thank you for your email, which is very interesting indeed!

No, we do not have any plans to take over Saab. Even if we had the financial
capabilities to do so, it would not make any business sense what so ever. I
would be grateful if you could tell me where you got this information from?
I am very curious.. Thank you.

Take care and regards,

As many of us have heard during the Saturday night banquet at the 2008 Saab Owners Convention, there will be an original SAAB SK-37 Viggen (two-seater) arriving in the United States this fall.

The aircraft will be upon arrival, located in Stow, Massachusetts, the same state where SAAB Motors Inc, had their first port of origin at the Collings Foundation.

The SAAB SK-37 Viggen, based off of the attack version of the JA-37 Viggen, was a two-seater version of the Viggen with some other modifications that were made to accomodate the new seating arrangement, including a periscope for the co-pilot.

Viggen means The Thunderbolt in Swedish, derived from the Norse god Thor’s warhammer Mjölner.
