Saab Cars North America has started its first leasing event as a new company this week, focusing on the 2010 9-3 models, according to multiple news sources including Automotive news.

I’d be interested in what my favorite Saab, the 9-3x with a manual transmission, will lease for too.

Here’s a snippet of the article by Automotive News on leasing.

DETROIT — Saab Cars North America kicked off its first sales event as a new company today — a leasing program for the 2010 Saab 9-3.

Saab can move on the marketing front now that it has begun slowly building up its U.S. pipeline. The 9-3 has been trickling into the United States since late March. Before that, dealers had not had a shipment of Saab vehicles since last June.

“We had to start from scratch,” said Michael Colleran, COO of Saab Cars North America. “We’ve got a great team in place; we’ve got leasing; we’ve got the pipeline in place, and inventory is rising.”

Saab is offering a 2010 9-3 Sport Sedan 2.0 with automatic transmission for $399 a month with a $3,374 down payment; the term is 48 months. Advertising to promote the lease program will be primarily newspapers, direct mail, digital and social media. Some co-op advertising is planned. The program expires June 1.

Saab Automobile To Rehire Laid-Off Employees

Saab Automobile to rehire laid-off employees according to TTELA.

Saab to rehire laid-off workers

Swedish carmaker Saab Automobile has said it will rehire 187 people laid off last April, following negotiations with unions.

The company…..will draw the recruits from a pool of 700 people made redundant in spring 2009. They join 150 staff members re-employed in the autumn.

“We have been negotiating over which people are going to come back. This is decided both by the number of years employed and by competence. A further 10-15 people are probably needed,” said Håkan Skött, chairman of the Saab branch of the Metall trade union….

….In addition to the production workers, a further 50 white-collar workers have been taken on since Spkyer took over. A further 100 office staff are needed, the company says.

“We’re hoping that we will eventually be able to go up to two shifts,” said Skött, who added that he believed it would be difficult to achieve the company’s planned levels of production with only one shift.
